Hallo from Worcester, Western Cape, South Africa. Today is the last day of our Passover weekend. ( Monday is still a holiday on our side). It is a very important 3 days for us as we celebrate the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We don’t do the bunny/easter egg thing , since it has absolutely nothing to do with Him, but wet take time to just honor and remember His sacrifice. We spent most of the weekend building a kitchen extention in our backyard,  vending at the Montagu farmers market on Saturday and visiting my mom on Sunday in Gansbaai. We finished the roof of the kitchen extention this…

  • Shop Update!

Hallo from a coldish Worcester, South Africa.  I know 24 degrees Celsius classifies as hot in some other countries, but if you live in Africa, that classifies as kinda on the verge of getting cold. I also have to mention that many South Africans will disagree with this statement. On that note, I have the wonderful news that my shop is up and running again! YAY! After a serious yarn drought, I am now able to source the yarns I need to dye. Two of the categories are still empty. The cottons and the accessories are not available as yet, but should be soon. As I mentioned on Instagram, I struggling…

  • Workshop Bliss

Hallo from Worcester, South Africa. It is the 5th day of March 2019 and we are moving towards autumn in South Africa. Isn’t it amazing how seaons change so quickly? The sun is already starting to come up a bit later and going down a bit earlier. The air is cooling down at night, but we still have a couple of really hot days coming. My two favorite seasons are autumn and spring when everything in nature goes to sleep and wakes up again 6 months later. Of course, for those of you who are winter knitters only, it is time to start unpacking the stash and for us year…

  • You Tube Video Fail = Blog Post about spinning and workshops

Hallo from a still very hot Worcester (the one in South Africa). I hope everybody has been having a good week so far.  I have, after trying to record a You Tube Video for nearly two hours and ending with a “floppie” every time,  decided to rather move on to a blog post before my phone ended up in a ditch (I record from my phone, if anyone was wondering) I have quite a bit to share about fiber stuff, so off we go. After finishing with the Heart Sideways Tank test knit ( link for pattern below) I went straight back to my spinning wheel. • What’s with all the changes?

Hallo from a very hot Worcester in the Western Cape of South Africa. I haven’t written a blog post for a while, but seeing as my new YouTube video is on hold untill I have finished the project I am busy with and actually have content to show, I thought it a good idea to just write something. As you may have noticed, some changes have been made to the site and my shop is currently  closed and under construction. This, I want to assure you, is not permanent. I am busy building up stock for the handspun series that I am adding to the shop (time consuming, but worth…

  • Natural dyes and natural fibres

I am so excited to talk about the new adventure I am embarking on. I have allways been passionate about keeping things as natural as possible when it comes to yarn, so the next series is taking it one step further. I am starting on a 100%natural non-superwash base using natural plant based dyes. I won’t stop dyeing my normal superwash yarns, since it is a more practical and in some cases non allergenic (for people who are allergic to lanolin),but it is going to be an epic journey resulting in heirloom yarns and thus, in heirloom projects. I will also have superwash yarn dyed with natural plantbased dyes available.…
